PeakBiety’s Art Director, James Greenwood, recently won a gold award in Graphis’s Type 4: Typeface Design competition. His entry, “Icebreaker,” was the only winning entry that came from Florida. There were a total of 106 winners that made it into the annual publication, 44 coming from North America. His typeface is a slab serif that is reminiscent of Memphis and Rockwell.
Entries were scored by a panel of judges, all award-winning typeface designers: Akira Kobayashi, Nadine Chahine, and Dan Rhatigan. This edition features articles about prolific typeface design masters Matthew Carter and Ed Benguiat, alongside some of their best work. Also presented is documentation of the history of type from the 5th Century B.C. to present. The book contains full-page images of Platinum & Gold Award-winning work from talented typographers and typeface Designers. Silver Award-winning work is also displayed, and merits are listed.
